Australia's Impact On World War 2
From 1939 to 1945, families were losing loved ones and innocent children due to World War ll. It was the 3rd of September, 1939 when the current Prime Minister at that time, Robert Gordon Menzies declared over all national and commercial radio stations in Australia that Australia was then going to be involved in the Second World War.
Nearly one million brave Australians both men and women sacrificed their life's to fight in World War II. These recruits served in many countries such as Europe, the Medditerran, North Africa, South-East Asia and some parts of the Pacific. Australia was part of the allied forces alongside the Republic of China, Soviet Union and the United States Of America and Britian, the mother country of Australia. Five countries were part of this force whereas the axis forces were only made up of only three countries which were Germany, Italy and the empire of Japan.
Over 39,700 Australian men and women died on the battlefront and over 700 Australian men, women and children civilians were killed during the Second World War. Over 100 million people were involved in World War II and 50,000,000 to 80,000,000 people died due to this disastrous war altogether.
